03 · HOW TO PLAY

Playing this build

1Early preparation

Heavy Slash at the Blade stage is a special attack, but prepare normal attack equipment for the long term. Advance safely with normal combos and sheathed defense.

2Upgrades and transition

Rendblade: Heavenrend replaces Heavy Slash with Iaido Slash, which is a normal attack. After Drifting Willow, focus on the wide Great Iaido Slash at 100% Sword Strike.

3Combat loop

  1. Fill Sword Strike with normal attacks.
  2. When enemies gather or the boss opens up, use Great Iaido Slash at 100% Sword Strike.
  3. Build the gauge again through normal attacks and move to create the next opportunity.

Boss fights

Prepare the gauge for the opening when Great Iaido Slash can land. The wider area gives you more safe hitting positions, but does not prevent hits during the animation.

Without the core items

Without Warm Stone, supplement critical damage with Sword Earrings while managing the MP reduction. If Sword Strike is hard to fill, secure Warrior Seal and Sword Training Manual first.
